1&1 SmartPad tablet with Android 1.6 review

1&1 SmartPad tablet with Android 1.6 review
The Germany company 1&1 has just announced their very own Android-powered 1&1 SmartPad tablet with Android 1.6. Android 1.6 OS is used but there is no Android Market access and so various Android apps have been pre-installed, such as RSS reader, facebook app, twitter app, picture viewer..etc.

the 1and1 SmartPad Tablet will come with a 7 inch LCD WVGA touchscreen (it’s yet unknown if it’s capacitive or resistive),, 500MHz ARM 11 processor, 1GB internal flash based storage, 256MB DDR RAM, 1GB of storage and integrated 802.11n WiFi. One note on the display, its not clear if that will be capacitive or resistive. And for those who have used both, you know that can be a deal breaker. On the bright side, if you want an Internet connection anytime and anywhere you are (subject to signal strength, of course), a USB WWAN dongle can be used to stand in as a wireless bridge to 2G or 3G connections.

other features in this 1&1 SmarPad include a music player, use as a digital picture frame and access to 1&1 Video-on-Demand service maxdome. In addition to the SmartPad, 1&1 tablet will also offer a docking station, which can be controlled through a remote control and comes with an inbuilt subwoofer.

“Increasing mobility, home networking, and the rapid development of ever more new features has created a new class of device, which is located between the SmartPhone and the note or netbook. From the benefits of both worlds, we have made the 1&1 SmartPad, ” said Robert Hoffman, 1&1 CEO, of their new product, the SmartPad. Nevertheless, this is currently Germany’s sole Android tablet and expect only the hardcore Android fanatics to go for this one.
