MiLi Pico Projector 2 review

The last time that we discussed MiLi, it had to do with the MiLi HD unveiled at CES 2011. Now, they have the Pico Projector 2.

The Pico Projector 2 is apparently fifty percent slimmer than its former model, and its battery life has been extended to about 2.5 hours. It also has that slimmer form factor.

The design of the Pico Projector 2 isnt really made for home theaters, but it is good for portability, and cases in which the user can just whip out a projector from their jacket pocket. Especially one that is compatible with the iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, not to mention an AV device like a PC or Mac.

If something like this is truly floating your boat as far as a portable projector goes, then you should probably get aboard this particular train. The MiLiPico Projector 2 should soon be available from BeamBox on May 26 for a price about $482. ( Cybertheater.com)

Yamaha YSP-2200 digital sound projector with HD and 3D support

Sound projectors dont really feature on the list of gizmos we bump into as often as wed like to. Like Yamahas YSP-2200 digital sound projector that lends support to HD and 3D for an enhanced home theater experience. Part of its name comes courtesy of the companys homegrown YSP front surround sound technology.

Employing True Cinema sound technology, the projector fits itself in front of a TV set quite comfortably. Standing short at 3.5, the device has feet with adjustable height and a 100W subwoofer which can be set vertically or horizontally. Users can avail of 7.1-channel surround sound without hooking up extra speakers to it.

The YSP-2200 includes eleven Cinema DSP programs that encompass three Movie and three Music programs apart from five Entertainment options. These programs may be utilized to improve the gaming experience as well. The projector also decodes HD audio signals for the benefit of Blu-ray disc players and other digital sources.

Most consumers want the benefits of 7.1 surround sound, but dont want to compromise the look of their living room, remarked Tom Sumner, President, Yamaha Electronics. Yamahas YSP-2200 technology allows for the enjoyment of surround sound without additional speakers, unsightly cables and stands.

Each of the speaker beam drivers embedded into this system has a digital amplifier as well as a digital amplifier. Its Music Enhancer functionality optimizes the audio from compressed sources like MP3 files and HDMI 1.4a. Another sound-enhancing feature is the IntelliBeam Automated System Calibration technology.

The Yamaha YSP-2200 costs $999.95. It includes a dock port that is capable of hosting optional peripherals like the YID-W10 wireless dock for iPod and iPhone, YBA-10 Bluetooth wireless audio receiver or the YDS-12 universal dock for iPod and iPhone.

New Casio Gives New Zealand XJ-A245U Projector

Casio has come forth today to announce a brand new projector that has just been released in New Zealand dubbed the XJ-A245U. This projector features a 1280 x 800 WXGA resolution, 2500 ANSI lumens, an 1800:1 contrast ratio, HDMI port and USB. What is unique about this projector is the fact that it utilizes Green Slim technology that combine LED and lasers resulting in a lamp rated at around 20,000 hours. Not only that but this combination will make for improved image quality due to the two display technologies working in conjunction with one another.

There was no mention of a retail price but considering the XJ-A245U is on sale in the US and retails for around $1,100 wed say its safe to assume it will be something like that.

Vivitek introduces the Qumi at CES 2011

Vivitek introduces the Qumi at CES 2011
Vivitek is no stranger to projectors, such as the H9080FD and the H1080FD. At CES 2011 this year, they unveiled the Qumi.

The Qumi is part of a new line of the company’s LED-based projectors, and weighs in at 1.6 pounds. It is also the first pocket projector to be 3D ready with Texas Instruments DLP Link technology. It is definitely ready for work or play, and good for sharing digital content.

Speaking of 3D, Vivitek told me that they had perfected 2D to 3D conversion, so you can watch a 2D film in 3D, provided you’re wearing the glasses. Personally, I think they might have been boasting a little too much.

It should be available in May 2011 for an estimated price of $499.00(USD). Key features and specifications are after the jump.

Qumi Key Features/Specifications:

* Native WXGA (1280×800) resolution
* Up to 300 lumens of brightness and a 2500:1 contrast ratio

IOS-Ready Pico-Projector Turns Your Phone into a Theater

IOS-Ready Pico-Projector Turns Your Phone into a Theater
The SHOWWX+ pico-projector from MicroVision could be the ultimate movie-accessory for your iPad. The laser-projector hooks straight into the dock-connector of your iPad (or other iOS device) and throws an image onto the wall, giving a picture of up to 100-inches. The plus-sign in the name designates that the new projector is 50-percent brighter than its predecessor, so you might be able to get that 100-inch image without closing all the curtains and killing the lights.

The dream is that you can turn an iPhone or iPad into the center of a home-theater setup: a big-screen picture courtesy of the pocket-sized projector, and external, wireless sound thanks to the new AirPlay feature of iOS 4.2 (AirPlay will beam sound that is synced to a movie, something which even the Mac won’t do without third-party software).

The specs: The SHOWWX+ puts out 15 lumens with a 5,000:1 contrast ratio (depending on ambient light, of course) in a 16:9 aspect-ratio. While that wide-screen format is wasted on the iPad, you can hook the projector up to any device that will feed it a composite video signal. Cables for both this and the iPad come in the box, and a VGA adapter for your computer can be bought separately. Resolution is 848 x 480, not high-def but then, neither is your iPad (the iPad outputs its native native 1024×768 resolution via the VGA-adapter). One big advantage of the laser projector is that it has “infinite focus”, which means it will work on curved walls, or even give a sharp picture if you haven’t got it perfectly perpendicular to the screen.

Is the SHOWWX+ worth its $450 price-tag? We’ll find out soon enough: There’s already a test unit winging its way from MicroVision to Gadget Lab Spain.

InFocus announced the addition of the IN5120 series of projectors, featuring the IN5122 (XGA, 1024 x 768) and IN5124 (WXGA, 1280 x 800) models. Offering life-like colors and a deep grayscale depth due to inorganic LCDs, the IN5120 series provides organizations of all sizes high-performance projection and impressive connectivity and collaboration features at a remarkably low price.

Simplified Installation and Maintenance

The IN5120 series offers affordable LCD capability that is easy to install and maintain in a wide range of conference rooms, training rooms and classrooms. The IN5122 and IN5124 can be easily installed on a wall or ceiling. Their low-profile design makes them easy to use on tables or media carts so they can be easily moved for flexibility and cost effectiveness. Horizontal and vertical lens shift along with corner correction allow the IN5120 series to project crisp, square images in nearly any room.

With 4,000 lumens, the new IN5120 series creates bright, high-impact images up to 110 diagonal inches (2.79 m) even in well-lit rooms. Plus, two IN5120 projectors can be stacked on top of each other for nearly twice the lumens. A single-lamp design and easily accessible lamp door make the IN5120 series easy and economical to maintain. The latest inorganic LCD technology and up to 5,000 hour lamp life offer years of worry-free operation.

Flexibility to Personalize and Collaborate

The IN5120 series makes it possible to collaborate with colleagues and classmates around the world. Remote workers don’t need to be confined by four walls to present in a meeting. Simply connect the projector to your established network and anyone on that network can present. The IN5120 series also allows users to simply plug in a USB thumb drive to present without a computer. Plus, custom start-up screens allow companies to reinforce brands internally and create targeted messaging in specific rooms throughout any facility.

Epson ups the ante with PowerLite Pro G-series installation projectors

Epson ups the ante with PowerLite Pro G-series installation projectors
Epson is a name that is well know when it comes to projectors (apart from printers, of course), and this time around we have a couple more high-definition models that will be introduced to the masses – the PowerLite Pro G-series installation projector line which sees the PowerLite Pro G5450WUNL and G5750WUNL arriving on stage. Targeting medium to large custom installations in corporations, higher-education, and houses of worship, these will be no less than full-featured, professional projectors that comprise of a wide range of cutting edge technologies and collaboration features. In case you’re involved in any of the places mentioned and are looking for a new projector, why not read on in the extended post to see whether the features suit your venue or not?

The PowerLite Pro G5450WUNL and G5750WUNL are both WUXGA projectors, where they will deliver 1920 x 1200 native resolution and high-quality widescreen images. First of all, the PowerLite Pro G5450WUNL can deliver 4,000 lumens of color and white light output, while the PowerLite Pro G5750WUNL is slightly higher end when it comes to brightness levels, offering 4,500 lumens of color and white light output. Among the features that both projectors share include :-

* C2Fine Technology: Along with advanced vertical alignment technology, provides high contrast for deeper blacks and vivid images
* DICOM Simulation Mode: Specialized imaging uses standardized grayscale to reproduce medical images, such as x-rays, for medical training and education
* Six-Axis Color Adjustment: Allows users to customize colors by adjusting the hue, saturation, and brightness of RGBCMY (red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, yellow) for special projection materials such as high-quality photographs or artwork
* Advanced Sharpness: Allows users to adjust sharpness more precisely for thin, thick, vertical, and horizontal line enhancements
* Test Patterns: Four new test patterns are included for different applications to make setup and image customization easy

Of course, what’s a high end projector when it isn’t capable of giving you split screen capability? This will certainly come in handy when it comes to presentation flexibility, boasting two side-by-side windows and three layout options – perfect when you want video and presentation materials to run simultaneously for added convenience. Not only that, up to a quartet of computers can simultaneously project via the network with a four-way split-screen for added effect. The PowerLite Pro G5450WUNL isn’t cheap at $3,999, while the Pro G5750WUNL will see you adding another grand to the price tag as they both become available next January onwards.

Optoma GT100 Mini Projector

Optoma GT100 Mini Projector
Mini projectors haven’t really caught on ever since they were introduced to the masses some time ago, and we’re guessing that’s because there really isn’t a deep rooted need for one of these puppies. Well, that doesn’t mean manufacturers will stop churning out such devices, otherwise we wouldn’t have the £229.99 Optoma GT100 Mini Projector to play around with. Capable of throwing an image of up to 75-inches in size, the Optoma GT100 will play nice with just about any video game console, set top box, DVD players, notebooks as well as other compatible devices onto any flat surface.

The brightness level needs some looking into though at just 50 lumens, which means your room will need to be pretty dark – otherwise your audience will be treated to washed otu colors. Apart from that, external speakers are a must if you’re watching a movie on this thing since the integrated 1.5w speaker isn’t going to add much ambience to the whole situation. Maxing out at WVGA resolution (854 x 480), you can forget about watching High Definition videos on this thing, although regular DVDs will do just fine. The lamp life of 30,000 hours ought to last you for quite a number of years, as we don’t forsee this being used regularly. Reasonable enough to be placed under the Christmas tree though.

Sanyo PLC-15000L Now Available For Purchase in US For Around $45,000

Sanyo PLC-15000L
Sanyo has come forth today to not only announce the PLC-15000L projector, but also let us know it’s on sale. We haven’t told you about this projector inthe past which features a 2K HD 2048 x 1080 resolution, 15,000 ANSI lumens and a 3,000:1 contrast ratio. Additionally, it also utilizes Sanyo’s QuaDrive technology which reportedly improves on the typical 3LCD display technology.

According to our sources, it seems that the PLC-15000L will not ship with a lens so you’ll have to purchase that as well but Sanyo says fret not as they offer an expansive line up including a full HD offering capable of display a 17:9 image.

Below, Vice President of SANYO Digital Solutions, Sam Malik, comments:

“By setting a new standard for brightness in its category, and using our most advanced technologies that include QuaDrive, a long life DIOS (Durable Inorganic Optical System) engine and widescreen 2K resolution, the PLC-HF15000L performs superbly in even the largest presentation environments. We see it creating new opportunities for large format digital signage, even in well-lit spaces. Furthermore, its operational flexibility and features enable its effective use in rooms of virtually any size, with low operational and maintenance costs.”

Oh yeah, we forgot to mention the price tag. Around $45,000. Yep, not for the faint of heart.
