iOS 4.3 Update: Apple Trades Home Button for Multitouch Gestures

iOS 4.3 Update: Apple Trades Home Button for Multitouch Gestures
Yesterday we reported that iOS 4.3 will offer additional gesture controls for the iPad, including four- and five-fingered swipes to launch the multitasking tray and a pinch gesture to get to the home screen.

It seems more gesture controls means less physical buttons: Today, Boy Genius Report confirmed that Apple will ditch the home button on future versions of the iPad and iPhone. According to BGR, we may even see the home buttons disappear from the next-generation versions of the popular devices, both of which are expected to launch this year.

BGR also writes that Photo Booth, Apple’s ever-popular photo-taking application, could make its way onto the next-generation iPad. Other newly reported features of iOS 4.3 include personal hotspot capabilities for the iPhone, AirPlay support for third-party apps, and a slide switch on the iPad which will allow users to choose whether the switch controls mute or rotation lock.
