Samsung PN50C680 Plasma Television Review

Its back to the Samsung pile to get us todays dose of plasma fun, and weve got another great one in the form of the Samsung PN50C680. Weve had a lot of good Samsungs, and thankfully, this one will match up.

The Samsung PN50C680 is a fifty inch 1080p plasma television that offers two ten watt speakers with SRS TruSurround, a game mode for improved image quality in high-speed video situations, Samsungs Touch of Color for an extra aesthetic push, BD Wise systems, ConnectShare to access those USB drives through the television, Anynet Plus, four HDMI inputs, a USB port, a PC input, two component inputs, a headphone jack, two composite inputs and a digital audio output.

The display looks greatfifty inch 1080p is hard to do much else but look greatand the sound is also pretty nice at that. Once again SRS TruSurround shows up and gives everything a sorely needed shot in the arm. And also, youll get a nice mix here between support for old and new components. Its a very nicely put together package overall, and that should get your interest.

What will clearly keep that interest, however, is that two places are selling these for under a thousand bucks each, and thats an excellent price for a high quality piece of hardware like this.

The Samsung PN50C680 is big, looks great, sounds great and is priced right, so if youre looking for a new television to cap off your home theater, give this one a second look.

Samsung LN40C560 LCD Television Review

Our look at the LCD television, ahead of the big game this Sunday, continues on with one of Samsungs many delightful LCDsthe Samsung LN40C560, a surprisingly potent system that will manage to do a good job on price besides.

The Samsung LN40C560 is a forty inch 1080p LCD television that offers Samsungs Touch of Color design (Charcoal Gray, specifically), ConnectShare Movie to allow content to stream from thumb drives or digital cameras, a game mode to enhance playback in high speed situations like gaming, wide color enhancer systems, the AllShare system that lets you stream video and audio from your PC to the television, two ten watt speakers with DNSe, AnyNet Plus, four HDMI ports, two USB ports and one PC input.

This is a great one if youve got a whole lot of new equipment, or if youre looking for a television to use as a huge computer monitor, because its heavy on the HDMI, or rather, its almost exclusive on the HDMI. Its kind of a tough sale, really, because its so dependent on new hardware, or at the very least, a receiver with an HDMI connector. Under any other set of circumstances, this television will be mostly useless to you.

Aside from that, though, the television itself is pretty nice. The sound quality is a bit on the lackluster side having no real augmentation for its dual ten-watt speakers outside of DNSe, but the picture quality is really very sharp, especially for forty inches, which is really about the lowest of the truly big screens.

And considering that the folks out at Amazon want six hundred fifty bucks for one of these, its a pretty good setup, assuming youve got just the right circumstances for it. The Samsung LN40C560 will not be for everybody, but it will do a terrific job, under just the right conditions.

Nvidias Tegra 2 Dominates CES On Tablets and Super Phones 2011

Since the announcement of Tegra 2 last year and the army of tablets it was meant to power, weve been cautiously excited about the possibilities this system on a chip offers. Though we had a longer wait than expected the first Tegra 2 tablet just came out a few weeks ago the products weve seen at this years show prove that it was worth the wait. Not only are we seeing the ultra-portable multimedia powerhouse tablets Nvidia promised, but now Tegra 2 has kicked the super phone category into high gear.

The LG Optimus 2X, Motorola Atrix 4G, and the Motorola Droid Bionic all have the power to output 1080p video and 7.1 audio via HDMI and allow users to watch and interact with Flash web content without compromise. Plus, users can experience PC-level gaming on smart phones, just as with their tablet brethren. Thats some serious power in your pocket. And it makes Android phones just as great for portable, handheld gaming as they are for keeping you connected.

The wide adoption of Tegra 2 may have some interesting side effects down the road. When we met with the company this week, they talked about how, on the PC side, theyre used to quickly releasing updates to drives and software. Theyre looking to continue that trend for tablets and phones, which may result in much faster updates to new versions of Android.

Thanks to Android 3.0 and Nvidia, there will also be more synchronicity between whats available on phones and tablets. Tegra 2 devices will all have access to the Tegra Zone app store, which features games developed specifically to run in the Tegra environment. There will be just five games at launch Dungeon Defender (first game for Android built with Unreal Engine 3), Monster Madness, Fruit Ninja, Backbreaker THD, and Galaxy on Fire. Nvidia is working with developers to bring more titles over from PC gaming into Android gaming, and we cant wait for the result.

Take a look at these clips from this weeks Nvidia press conference showing the LG Optimus 2X playing a Flash game, a MMORPG, and a game with complex 3D elements.

Google TV will be available at Europe in 2011 after being officially launched in the U.S. by the end of this year. This is the news released directly from the top of the Mountain View giant stage directly from IFA 2010 in Berlin which ended recently. The potential of this new Google project seems really interesting. Collaboration with some of the largest producers in the world of television, such as Samsung and Sony, will enable the transition from use in the PC than on TV.
Google TV at Europe in 2011
Will be possible to reach the Internet from your TV, downloading content and much more possibly. The service will be offered in a totally free as is generally the case for the new Google proposed.Google TV is equipped with a browser that Chrome will be the starting point to search the web and will be based on Android operating system. This featured that allows the execution of real applications directly on the small screen and make available the breadth of solutions offered by Online Market.

With this move strategic, Google intends to fill the current gap that exists between a mobile or a personal computer and a TV soon, not only represent a mere tool for viewing videos, but allow users to reach information and use all those services offered by the network. Moreover, the presence of an operating system continually updated as Android, will allow easy interaction between smart phones and televisions for further integration between the devices.

The Mountain View giant has several surprises in Serbian. Only last week, for example, Reuters reported the news that Google would be scheduling preliminary interviews with some of the major record labels to discuss the future development of its own music download service that will allow users to downloaded audio content from a rich database and legal completely.

Umeox Apollo, Sun Powered Smartphone

Companies from China, Umeox, helped to enliven the Mobile World Congress 2011, held in Barcelona. Umeox introduce their latest products Umeox named Apollo.

Unlike most smartphones currently available, Umeox Apollo has its own uniqueness. Apollo has a solar panel embedded in the back of the phone.

As quoted from MobileCrunch, Wednesday (16/2/2011), to recharge the battery in everyday use, it only takes about 2.5 hours under the sun, with a record of battery power remaining few percent. However, if the battery power has been used without the rest, it takes about 17 hours to recharge to 100 percent.

This smartphone uses the operating system Android 2.2 Froyo. The touch screen is used measuring 3.2 inches with a resolution of 320x480. Only 1GB of data storage capacity, but can be added via a MicroSD slot.

Apollo also armed Umeox powered 3-megapixel camera located on the back of the phone. In addition there are also features FM radio and 3.5mm audio jack.

Seeing some of the specifications above, there was nothing special about this smartphone. However suryanya energy panels have a high attraction, especially for those who love to travel or have any adventures to remote places that do not have electricity facility.

CES 2010: Samsung unveils C9000, C8000 & C7000 LED-TVs

Samsung has unveiled their complete 2010 portfolio of LED-TVs at CES 2010. You can start drooling because the 2010 Samsung line-ip is more beautiful than ever. Samsung's new high-end series are to be called 7000, 8000 and 9000 and supports 3D. The 9000 model is only 8 mm thick.

We have now received Samsung C8000 for a review: Samsung 3D LED-TV (C8000) received.

Samsung LED TV C9000.

Samsung has exhibited their new flagship. The 9000 series is thinner than ever and more beautiful than ever with a design in silver metal and black. The new LED-TV (LCD with LED) also features 3D support, which can be enjoyed with 3D content in 2010.
The secret behind the ultra-thin frame of 8 mm is a Edge LED backlight, where the LEDs have been placed along the edges of the panel. In order to make the 9000 series even thinner, Samsung has also moved some of the control electronics into the stand, which can be rearranged when TV needs to be wall mounted.
Samsung's new 9000 series can display true 3D content together with a 3D Blu-ray players, but it can also convert 2D content into 3D (although the quality is probably far from true 3D).
Developed with a completely new remote control the 9000 series seeks the Apple look. The new remote has a touch-sensitive screen. The remote can even function as an extra screen, and you can watch TV directly on your remote while watching Blu-Ray on the TV.

You can even browse through all your music, photos and video from another PC at home using DLNA technology. Once you've found the vacation photos from last year on the extra screen on the remote, you can "beat the air" with the remote towards the TV and the content will now be displayed full screen on your TV.
The 9000 series incorporates 240 / 200 Hz technology (which is required for 3D), as well as Samsungs Internet@TV. Internet@TV features a wide range of online services such as YouTube, Twitter, etc.

Samsung has also integrated the newly developed "Samsung Apps" system. Samsung App is a store similar to Apple's App Store, where various developers and consumers can create applications for your TV. Internet@TV is of course wireless.
The Samsung C9000 series will be available in 46-inches (UE-46C9000) and 55 inches (UE-55C9000) later this year. No words on prices.

Samsung LED TV C8000

Samsung has also presented their 8000 series of LED-TVs, which has a new design that combines silver metal with a transparent framework.

The 8000 series is not as slim as its big brother in the 9000 series but Samsung proclaims that even though the 8000 series has Edge LED technology, the R&D department have been able to utilize some of the advantages of the local dimming system.
Its hard to tell what Samsung means by this because local dimming technologies is typically associated with LEDs behind the LCD panel (backlit LED).
The 8000 series also supports 3D and converts 2D to 3D. It has a 240 / 200 Hz system, and Internet@TV, DLNA and Samsung Apps.

Samsung has also developed a new stand for the 8000 series, which consists of four legs in metal. The stand has been designed as a piece of furniture, according to Samsung.
Samsungs new remote is not included with the 8000 series, but can be purchased separately.

8000 series will be available in 32 (UE-32C8000, only 100 Hz) 40 (UE-40C8000), 46 (UE-46C8000), 55 (UE-55C8000) and 65 (UE-65C8000). In stores in the second quarter of 2010.

Samsung LED-TV C7000
The next step is called the 7000 series and it features the same four-legged stand as the 8000 series. The design is based on Samsung's "Touch of Color" philosophy from the 2009 models.

The 7000 series is slim because of an Edge LED backlight but without the so-called local dimming feature from tthe 8000 series.

The 7000 series also incoporates 3D and converts 2D to 3D. It has a 240 / 200 Hz system, Internet@TV, DLNA and Samsung Apps.
Samsung's new remote control is not included with the 7000 series, but can be purchased separately.

The 7000 series will be available in 40 (UE-40C7000), 46 (UE-462C7000) and 55-inches (UE-55C78000). In stores in the second quarter of 2010.

Samsung C6500 and C5000 LED-TVs
Finally, Samsung will market two "small" LED-TV series without 3D support. These are the C6500 series and C5000 series.
The 6500 series has 100 Hz, Touch of Color design, DLNA, Samsung Apps. It will be launched in the first half of 2010. Samsung also mentions a DVB-S (satellite) tuner.

The 5000 series focuses on low power consumption, has DLNA, and USB.
The 6500 series will be available in 32 (UE-32C6500), 37 (UE-37C6500), 40 (UE-40C6500), 46 (UE-46C6500) and 55 (UE-55C6500) and sees the light of the day in the second quarter of 2010.
The 6000 series comes in three variants; white, glossy black and dark brown with a wave pattern.

Android Tablets sweep CES 2011

Android Tablets sweep CES 2011
As with last year, this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) taking place in Las Vegas is nearly all about the latest and greatest Android devices, specifically tablets. Many of the newly announced Android tablets will reportedly run recently confirmed next major update to Google's open source Android mobile operating system, Android 3.0 code named "Honeycomb".

Previewed by Android chief developer Andy Rubin at the D: Dive into Mobile technology conference in San Francisco last month, Motorola officially announced its XOOM Tablet. The XOOM features a 10.1-inch widescreen HD display, a 1 GHz dual-core processor, and built-in 3G and 4G LTE support for US CDMA mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless. Other specs include a 5 megapixel camera capable of 720p HD video recording, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+ EDR and 32 GB of on-board storage. The XOOM is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2011 with an upgrade for 4G LTE arriving in Q2 a hands-on video is available from Engadget.

Android Tablets sweep CES 2011A number of other device manufacturers have also announced new devices, including ASUS which announced the Eee Pad Slider and Transformer tablets. Like the XOOM, both the Eee Pad Slider and the Transformer are powered by a dual-core Tegra 2 processor, however, each feature unique physical keyboards. The Eee Pad Slider, as the name implies, has a slide out QWERTY keyboard, while the Transformer includes a netbook-like dock with a keyboard and touch pad. ASUS says that the transformer should cost between $400 and $700, and the Eee Pad Slider will run between $500 and $800.

Toshiba previewed an unamed tablet which will reportedly run Honeycomb when it ships, however, the device on display at CES was loaded with Android 2.2. Acer also confirmed a 10-inch tablet running Honeycomb dubbed the Iconia Tab A500 which includes a full-sized USB port, as well as a micro-USB port and a docking connector. Partnering with LG, US GSM carrier T-Mobile announced its first 4G Android 3.0 Tablet called the G-Slate.

The latest stable version of Android is version 2.3, code named "Froyo" from December of last year. To date, the only device that's officially capable of running Android 2.3 is the Nexus S. Updates are reportedly coming soon for a variety of devices, including Google's Nexus One smartphone and the HTC Desire HD.
